Corey Eridon has some advice on mistakes to avoid and she warns not to be sloppy about Social Media. She writes in her blog on hubspot.com:

“What makes the following social media mistakes particularly sloppy is that they cost little time and no money to fix, have tremendous returns, and as such are huge misses to your overall social media strategy. Stop being sloppy, and make sure you’re not making any of these 10 social media mistakes (+1 for good luck).”

The 10 “Sloppy Social Media Mistakes” are according to the author:

  1. Not using the social media accounts you set up
  2. Not linking back to your website in social media profiles
  3. Not claiming your accounts
  4. Not separating your business and personal accounts
  5. Not explicitly asking someone to engage with your content
  6. Not including a picture
  7. Not having a blog subscription and RSS set up
  8. Not having Social Media follow and share buttons on your website
  9. Not including links in your tweets
  10. Not posting updates with context or comment

Unlike companies with thousands of followers on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and LinkedIn, most of the Google+ landscape is ripe for the picking.
